Our Mission
Amasha Hope’s Mission is to provide pathways to economic prosperity in underserved urban communities through nutrition, education, and employment.
Amasha Hope is a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in response to the national student achievement and wealth gaps disproportionately affecting Black and Brown children and families, which were both exacerbated during the pandemic.
Our Local Context
West Contra Costa School District ranks in the Top 20% statewide in Math and English proficiency. Nevertheless, some barriers to student achievement and thriving family life persist locally in Richmond, CA, such as the average household income ($79.5K), the poverty rate (13.4% and higher for persons under 21 years old), the incidence of violent crime (1 in 22).
Scarce is a neighborhood hub for children and families that could provide supplemental core programs and services such as tutoring, youth mentoring, workforce development/job readiness, and a food pantry with access to fresh produce and meat.
