Sons of Sumter
Amasha Hope is developing Sons of Sumter, a proposed Sumter County-based mentorship, leadership, and pathway-development initiative for young men entering 11th grade.
During development, Amasha Hope plans to establish a Founding Sons Advisory Council of 10 to 15 current 10th-grade students. With parent or legal guardian consent and appropriate youth safeguards, the council would help inform the program’s design and rites of passage. One-on-one mentoring would not begin during this advisory phase.
Subject to final planning, funding, safeguards, and appropriate school or district cooperation, the inaugural mentoring cohort is envisioned to launch in 2027. The proposed model would support participants through 11th and 12th grades and for two years following graduation.
Programming would combine mentorship, life skills, physical and mental wellness, leadership development, and preparation across five pathways:

Community college, technical education, or four-year college and university
2026 Community Introduction
Sons of Sumter will be publicly introduced at SabCon 2026 on Saturday, December 5, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Sumter, South Carolina.
The presentation will invite families, educators, prospective mentors and elders, employers, and community leaders to hear the vision and help inform the initiative’s development.
This event marks a community-engagement and program-development phase, not the launch of an operating mentoring program or an approved partnership with the Sumter School District.

The inaugural mentoring cohort is expected to launch in September 2027, pending final planning, funding, youth-protection procedures, and cooperation from the school or district.

Amasha Hope welcomes expressions of interest from parents and legal guardians, prospective mentors and elders, educators, employers, health professionals, and community leaders.
At this stage, an expression of interest does not constitute an application, enrollment, selection, partnership, or commitment.
We will collect information about prospective student participants only through a formal, consent-based process after finalizing the program framework, youth-protection safeguards, privacy practices, and participation procedures.
